Inside Sytai‘s Automated Production Base: A Dust-Free Workshop from Paper Lamination to Finished Cup Forming
At Sytai, quality isn’t just an outcome. It is built into every step of our process. Today, we invite you to walk through our automated production base – specifically, our dust-free workshop – where food-grade paperboard is transformed into finished paper cups through lamination, slitting, printing, and high-speed forming.
From the first layer of lamination to the final cup stack, every stage is automated, minimizing human contact while maximizing precision, hygiene, and consistency.
Station 1: Paper Lamination – Creating the Barrier
It all starts with food-grade paperboard. During the lamination process, the paper passes through an extrusion coating line where a uniform layer of food-grade polyethylene (PE) or bio-based barrier material is applied.
Why lamination matters:
· Creates a waterproof and oil-resistant layer – suitable for hot drinks, cold beverages, and oily foods
· Increases paper strength – prevents softening due to moisture
· Enables heat sealing – ensures a strong, leak-proof bond between the cup sidewall and bottom
Lamination is carried out in an enclosed environment. The coated paper is automatically inspected for coating thickness and surface defects, ensuring no missed coating, bubbles, or contamination. Only qualified laminated paper proceeds to the next stage.
Station 2: Precision Slitting – From Jumbo Roll to Cup Width
The laminated jumbo rolls enter the precision slitting stage, where they are cut into the exact widths required for different cup sizes.
Key advantages:
· Burr-free edges for smooth cup sidewalls
· Accurate width control to reduce material waste
· Constant tension unwinding and rewinding to prevent wrinkles
The slit rolls are automatically transferred to the dust-free workshop without touching the ground or human hands, preserving a contamination-free environment.
Station 3: Printing & Die-Cutting – Vision-Inspected
For customized designs, paper rolls or sheets undergo flexographic printing and die-cutting (fan-out shaping). Every printed piece passes through an inline vision inspection system that checks for:
· Color deviation
· Registration errors
· Surface dirt or white spots
Non conforming materials are automatically rejected before they reach the cup forming line.
Station 4: High-Speed Cup Forming – Fully Automated Core Zone
This is the heart of our workshop. Multiple high-speed cup forming machines operate in an automated zone, each equipped with:
· Automatic paper feeding (from rolls or fan out blanks)
· Ultrasonic or heat sealing systems for a strong, leak-proof bottom
· Indie punching and rim curling – sidewall, bottom, and rim completed in one cycle
· Inline camera inspection – each cup is checked for sidewall integrity, bottom seal, and rim defects
· Automatic stacking and counting on a dust-free conveyor
The entire forming area is enclosed with positive air pressure and HEPA-filtered airflow. Temperature and humidity are continuously monitored to ensure sealing consistency and paper stability.
Why a Dust-Free Workshop?
For disposable cup manufacturing, a dust-free workshop represents a high-level production standard that effectively controls:

Quality Checks – Every Cup, Every Time
Every cup leaving our dust-free workshop passes through multiple quality gates:
1. Incoming material inspection – food-grade certification and coating thickness uniformity
2. Inline vision inspection – sidewall, bottom seal, rim curl
3. Destructive sample testing – leak test, drop test, heat resistance test
4. Foreign object detection – metal and high-density particle check
5. Dust-free environment verification – regular airborne particle counting
Only cups that pass all tests are automatically packed into food-grade polybags and cartons, sealed onsite to prevent recontamination.
What Makes Sytai Different
· Fully integrated process control – lamination, slitting, printing, and forming under one roof
· End-to-end automation – minimal human contact, no material touches the floor
· Purpose-built dust-free production zone – designed to high environmental standards
· Daily environmental monitoring – temperature, humidity, and particle counts recorded per shift
· Flexible customization – from 4oz espresso cups to 24oz cold cups, for hot and cold beverages
At Sytai, we don’t just make paper cups. We produce safe, reliable food packaging in a controlled dust-free environment – from the very first layer of lamination to the final stacked cup.
